We are delighted to introduce to you our Head Chef, Nigel Bullock, who joined us at The Mill at Ulverston in 2017 and is the prodigy of the award-winning chef Steven Doherty, the first Briton to ever run a three-starred Michelin restaurant.
Showcasing some of the best seasonal Cumbrian cooking you’ll find, Nigel’s mission is to present you with food that you’ll love every single time, ensuring that it’s of the highest quality, beautifully presented, and always leaving you feeling satisfied.
The Place to Eat in Ulverston
Our first-floor restaurant is located above the historic water wheel in what was originally the “milling room.” The restaurant celebrates the charm and character of the mill building, with original millstones and milling paraphernalia still in place in the centre of the room.
The room’s original exposed stone walls and features are complemented by design touches, to create the perfect venue for a relaxed meal with family, friends and colleagues or when dining out on a special occasion.
Seating up to 40 diners in total, our restaurant can comfortably sit tables from two to over 20 people. The air-conditioned room is filled with natural light; the perfect place to enjoy our delicious menus and our carefully chosen wine list.
Food is served during the following times:
- Monday – Saturday
- 12 noon to 3pm
- 6pm to last food orders at 8.30pm
- 12 noon to last food orders at 6pm

Food is served in the bar area throughout the week and in the restaurant only on Fridays and Saturdays, except for private parties. We recommend booking if you would like a table in our snug from Sunday to Thursday.
